Fox Removal

Foxes have been known sometimes to carry Mange, which dogs can pick up. Whether your home or business is in a rural or urban area, you could still be subjected to the nocturnal activity of foxes and the stress they can cause.

More seriously, however, Roundworm is a parasite in foxes that have been known to cause blindness in children.

If you find yourself having any problems with foxes in and around your property, need fox removal, and live in the Portsmouth, Southampton, Basingstoke and Hampshire areas, then our friendly and professional pest control team at Pest Control Hampshire quickly and effectively solve your problems and help you with preventative measures in the future.

Controlling Foxes

When determining a fox problem, some things to look out for are distinctive run tracks across your lawn or apparent signs that something has passed through your hedges.

Fox droppings are often left about and are dark in colour. They also spray and can leave a powerful smell of urine. A sure sign you have a fox problem is if you notice any empty food cartons, bones or partly eaten animals left about. Foxes can also be extremely noisy at night, howling and yelping.

If you suspect you have some fox activity on your domestic or commercial property, then contact our professional pest control team at Pest Control Hampshire free of charge for a thorough survey to confirm whether you have a problem or not; this may involve having to set up night-vision cameras on your property.

After determining the problem, we will then offer you a choice of pest control methods and carry out the work humanely, safely, and ethically providing you with peace of mind and a satisfactory resolution to your problem.

In many ways, foxes can be helpful creatures to have around as they keep down vermin such as rats, mice, moles, rabbits and small mammals. Foxes also tidy up any dead and decaying animal carcasses that are lying around.

However, they can become a real problem, particularly for farmers around lambing time or on poultry farms, game farms or piggeries where free-range farming is being practised. Often the cost of these losses to any business can be substantial, so if you find yourself with a fox problem, then you should contact our pest control team immediately to prevent any further detriment.

Our specialist team at Pest Control Hampshire can work out of hours, providing fox pest control services on and around farms or smallholdings to help control and manage any rogue foxes that might kill or injure your valuable livestock. Our team will work efficiently and professionally on any pest control work undertaken.

Prevention of Foxes

There are some practical measures you can take to prevent foxes from making themselves at home on your property, such as making sure the inside of your house and around the garden is clean and tidy and that no food scraps are left out.

Another helpful tip is to ensure all household waste is put into bags and then into outdoor bins with securely fitted lids to prevent foxes from rummaging through bins, feeding on their contents and making a mess. You should make sure to feed birds higher up by using a bird feeder or hanging basket, as leftover birdfeed debris on the ground can attract foxes and other wildlife.

Pet food residue can also attract foxes to your garden, so keeping pet food in a robust container with a solid fitted lid is best.

Having a solid fence on your property will help deter animals from entering your property and make it easier to spot any wildlife digging underneath to gain access.

Do foxes attack people?

Foxes do not attack people. There are no confirmed cases of this ever happening.

Neither will they attack children or babies left in a pram in a garden. However, what is true is that foxes seem to be less wary of children than adults, and young foxes may even try to play with children, but they will not attack them.

The only instance in which a fox may attack a human is in self-defence if the fox is frightened. It is essential, for this reason, that if you find a trapped fox, you do not approach it or try and pick it up. It is always best to leave it an escape route and allow it to go on its own accord as soon as it feels safe.

If you are not equipped to deal with these situations yourself, you should contact a professional animal rescue company to help you or call local pest control services. If you need help, call us at Pest Control Hampshire, and we will be happy to support you with any enquiries on all types of pest control; we offer all kinds of pest control services, including bugs, rodents and foxes.

Will foxes kill any other of my pets?

The chances of a fox attacking your pets are very slim. Foxes are likely to leave your animals untouched; even rabbits, guinea pigs, hens, ducks etc., are likely very safe. A survey showed only 8% of small garden animals were killed by foxes every year.

Pet killing may only frequently occur in the late spring/early summertime when the foxes are rearing their cubs, and a garden pet is an easy food supply for them to bring home to their babies.

To safeguard your garden pets, you should ensure you do not leave your pets in the garden unsecured during the night and make sure that their hutch or shed is secure and built solidly with solid wire caging.
